A word from the principal...
Welcome to our electronic photobook for 2016. Within this website you will find many special moments that have been captured as pictures or embedded clips. These images will allow you to reflect on so many of the special events and occasions that we have had.
There have been many exciting moments. Some that come to mind include: the ball, the performances of the Pasifika group, the production Hairspray, the NOSCARS and multiple sports events. These experiences are what makes Newlands College special. For those of you leaving us we wish you all the very best as you take on a new direction in your lives. For those of you returning, we look forward to another action packed and memorable year in 2017. Grant Jones |

It seems as though the year had only just begun, yet we are now facing the final stages of another school year. We now have a beautiful New Zealand summer to look forward to. The year began with hopeful students who had more dreams and goals than could be counted, and we have had the opportunity to reflect on those dreams being turned into a reality.
It has been an incredible year, full of students who put their all into absolutely everything they do. We have seen our first successful Active Learning programme take place, in which students could take their ideas and turn them into a brilliant learning experience. Kicking off term one with Peer Support and Tabloids really set the tone for the following terms. From the Senior Ball and Year 11 Semi Formal, to the immense number of overseas trips and school organised events, it is clear that it has been a jam-packed year that everyone has made the most of.
It has been an amazing year for the Executive and we have loved every second of representing Newlands College and being a part of all the action. Organising and attending all of the events the school has held has definitely been a huge highlight. We can’t wait to see the same school spirit being carried on next year! We hope you all have a wonderful summer, and remember to take time to look through the memories that have been made throughout 2016. This has been such an amazing experience, and we all wish you the best for your future. ME WHAKAMATAU .

Another year gone by, another successful year completed. For many of us, this year is a year to remember as the Year 13’s embark on a new chapter of their lives. We look back at this year and celebrate the many achievements we have accomplished as a school.
As always, the integration of the new Year 9’s into the school was seamless through the Peer Support program. Throughout the duration of the year, students have participated in many action packed school activities such as: Tabloids, Junior Triangular, Senior Ball, Year 11 Semi-formal and many more!
It was a privilege to be a part of the Student Executive for 2016. With pleasure, the Student Executive has enjoyed organising and promoting school events. To see many students participate is what puts a smile on our faces and reminds us of why we’re doing what we’re doing.
It has been an incredible journey this year and will be a year many of us will remember. I can go on about what a year this has been but, we can only look forward to the future and grasp all the opportunities life has to offer. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go." - Dr. Seuss
Thanks for a year to remember.
